Riding on the Heights

Today's verse:  "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob."  Isaiah 58:13-14

"Riding on the heights of the land... "

Lord, today is your holy day, and we will rejoice and be glad in it.  The Sabbath is such a delight for your people.  It's a day to step aside from the busyness of life, and to fix our eyes on you out of honor and in worship.  We are called to take this day to find our rest in you.  It's so easy to make this day like any other day, but you ask us to keep from doing as we please and honor you with our time, our words, and our actions.  Lord, I pray that the Sabbath is always a day that my children honor, respect, but above all, love.  May they love gathering with other believers, who are seeking after you, and find great joy soaking in your Word, and in your presence.  May they find church something they look forward to, and a place to find belonging, hope, guidance, encouragement, and love.  I pray that their hearts cry out in worship, giving you honor and glory.  They can walk their faith journey without others, by not going to church, or by not keeping the Sabbath holy, but you Lord promise that they will find their joy in you, and that you will cause them to ride on the heights of the land, and to feast on your inheritance.  May they find this truth to be oh so real, even now when they are young, and as they grow older, I pray that they will hold onto this great love affair with you, the church, and your holy day.
