Thankful Thursday: 2 Birds With 1 Stone

"One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.  A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."  Proverbs 11:24-25

The gift of time together...and the gift of encouraging others.  All in one night.

Kyle needed to do a service project of some kind for school, and he decided to make cookies to deliver to some individuals in our church who are experiencing hard days.

One is dying of cancer.  One just recently fell, requiring surgery and is still recuperating.

Dad was game for helping him out int the project. Together they made a lovely mess, and delicious cookies!

Notice the flour on Kyle's shirt...
the flour on his face is harder to see!

So, today I'm thankful for my boys having some good father and son bonding time, and the gift of warm chocolate chip cookies that they blessed others with.

Thanking God today for two of my favorite men in the world!

Lord, I'm so thankful for my boys.  I'm thankful for a dad who loves to be with his son, and is patient, loving and gives wonderful instruction when they are together.  I'm thankful for a son who has a generous heart and isn't afraid to give to others.  I love to hear father and son laughing together, conversing about trivial things (and important ones too), and learning together through new experiences.  Lord, continue building their relationship, developing trust, and giving our son a safe place to go when he has questions, concerns, or fears in his life.  I pray that father and son have many more important times together.

Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity my son found to show generosity and compassion to those who are struggling, hurting, or discouraged.  I pray that he will remember this experience in years to come, and continue to find himself thinking of others.  Lord, may our children's lives be marked by giving, serving, and blessing others.  Help them to think past themselves, and their selfish desires, and look to the needs of those around them.  Giving to others reflects you in their lives.  I pray that generosity is always evident in how they spend their money, give of their time, and use their spiritual gifts.
