Exercising Prayer

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."  Ephesians 6:18

Alyssa will be arriving in Mexico this morning, along with 8 other high schoolers and their two leaders.  Oh what an experience their going to have.  I'm praying that God shows up in mighty ways.

One of the things I learned recently that they would be doing on this mission trip is doing "prayer walks".  There are certain neighborhoods that the missionaries who live there are befriending, ministering to, and praying that they come to know the Lord in a personal way.  So, our daughter and her team will be taking walks up and down these streets, praying for the people that live there.

I believe in prayer, and have seen it's power.  I'm praying that through this exercise (physically and spiritually!), our daughter and her friends will be stretched in their prayer life, and get to experience first-hand how God hears and answers us when we talk to Him.

What a beautiful gift it is, and privilege to behold, when we pray for someone else!  I can't wait to hear all about it when Lyss returns!

Lord, oh what a sweet experience Lyss is about to embark on. My heart rejoices that she has the opportunity to pray for others that she doesn't even know, nor will ever come face to face with ever again.  I pray, dear Jesus, that she finds it a rich time, lifting another before you in prayer.  I know that her words will be sweet to your ears, and flow with heartfelt passion, as she speaks to you.  I pray that her heart will be moved in new ways to understand the power of coming to you on behalf of someone else.  In new ways, may she come to believe in the power of prayer, and that you are hearing her.  Speak to her personally, Lord, and open her ears that she may hear you clearly responding to her.  Prayer is a mighty way to help grow our relationship with you.  May prayer become a beautiful thing in Alyssa's life on this trip, and solidify her belief that you long to hear her voice call on your name.
