Praying Scripture for Salvation Saturday

Dear Jesus, when Alyssa and Kyle belong to you they won’t be punished. The Holy Spirit will give them life that comes from you and will set them free from sin and death. The Law of Moses cannot do this, because our selfish desires make the Law weak. But you set Alyssa and Kyle free when you sent your own Son to be like us sinners and to be a sacrifice for our sin. You used Christ’s body to condemn sin. You did this, so that Alyssa and Kyle would do what the Law commands by obeying the Spirit instead of our own desires.

People who are ruled by their desires think only of themselves. Everyone who is ruled by the Holy Spirit thinks about spiritual things. If Alyssa and Kyle's minds are ruled by their desires, they will die. But if Alyssa and Kyle's minds are ruled by the Spirit, they will have life and peace. Our desires fight against you, God, because they do not and cannot obey your laws.  If we follow our desires, we cannot please you.

I pray that Alyssa and Kyle are no longer ruled by their desires, but by your Spirit, who lives in them. People who don’t have the Spirit of Christ in them don’t belong to you. But you lives in Alyssa and Kyle. So they are alive because God has accepted them, even though their bodies must die because of their sins. Yet you raised Jesus to life! Your Spirit now lives in Alyssa and Kyle, and you will raise them to life by your Spirit.

O Lord, I pray that Alyssa and Kyle choose not live to satisfy their desires. If they do, they will die. But Alyssa and Kyle will live, if by your help they say “No” to their desires. Only those people who are led by you, Lord, are his children. Your Spirit doesn’t make us slaves who are afraid of you. Instead, Alyssa and Kyle become your children and call you our Father. You make Alyssa and Kyle sure that they are your children. You let them know that together with you they will be given what you have promised. They will share in the glory of Christ, because they have suffered with him.
Amen
