No Worries!

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes."  Matthew 6:34 (The Message)

It's hard to believe there is only one month of summer left.  I try not to think about it actually.  Slow mornings, evening baseball games, bbq dinners, and iced tea are all wonderful things.  Not a worry in the world!  

School starts soon though. Alyssa and Kyle are needing to start figuring out classes to take, what supplies they need, roomate possibilities (for Lyss), and sorting through job opportunities.  The list goes on and on of things my kids could be worried about.  

My prayer is that if the worries start to make an appearance, that Alyssa and Kyle can fix their attention on Christ and trust Him for what they do not know or understand.  He will work it all out!

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
    don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
    he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.    Run to God!
Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message)

Lord, life is full of things to worry about.  I pray that Alyssa and Kyle can keep themselves from fretting and anxiety, and learn that they can trust You with every care and concern. Recognizing that you are the One who takes care of all their yesterdays, todays and tomorrows, will allow them to life a life of peace, joy, and hope.  You are worthy of their trust.  Teach Alyssa and Kyle to come to you with their cares and worries.  Help them to speak to you as one would speak to a friend, and find a confidence to face tomorrow.  You, dear Jesus, hold each day in your hands.  I pray that Alyssa and Kyle know that full well.

 

No Other God

Then God gave the people all these instructions:

“I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.

“You must not have any other god but me."

Exodus 20:1-3 

Have you ever played the game "4 Pics 1 Word"?  Well, here's your chance.  Here are a few pictures and you have to figure out what they all have in common (besides each picture including Alyssa).

 Lord, you are God.  I pray that Alyssa and Kyle have no other gods but you.  It's so easy in life to have other addictions, or things we put our hope, joy and trust in, but I pray that you alone are God in their lives.  May they always put their trust only in you.

Surrender and Trusting Him

Today, I am leaving on vacation.  I've scheduled some blogs while I am away, but they have little or no commentary from my daily life since I will be separated from my sweet husband, daughter and son for the next 12 days.  I may find a way to post a picture or two of the fun I am having, but otherwise I will be "on blog-vacation" for a while.  I will still be praying for my sweet babies though...oh how I will miss them!

 

Blessings on you, as you keep on praying!

 

 

 

Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
   he answers him from his holy heaven
   with the saving power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
   but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
   but we rise up and stand firm.

Lord, teach Alyssa and Kyle to trust you.  Keep them from putting their trust in success, in others, or in the things of this world.  Build their trust so that it's deep and wide, and strengthen their roots in you and grow them deep in you, dear Jesus.  May they always trust in you and not men. (Psalm 146:3)  Help Alyssa and Kyle to learn to always trust in you and not to lean on their own understanding, but in all their ways acknowledge you, for you will make their paths straight.  (Proverbs 3:5, 6)  Make their hearts willing and able to put their trust in  you, all the days of their life.  For blessed is the man who puts his hope and trust in you. (Psalm 84:12)  When Alyssa and Kyle trust in you, Lord, I pray that they will prosper. (Proverbs 28:25)  I know that they can trust in you Lord forever, for you Lord, the Lord, are the Rock eternal. (Isaiah 26:4)

 

Thankful Thursday: Redeemed Time

"God makes everything happen at the right time."  Ecclesiastes 3:11

At first, it just felt like a big glitch in my day.  I mean, no electricity for 5 hours kind of messes up one's plans.

So, in place of baking cookies for our upcoming open house...

• I had a visit with my neighbor and she shared with me how her friend needs prayer for her newborn baby who is struggling.

• I had a sweet silence as I finished off my Women's Bible study homework.  When is it ever that silent?  No hum of the refrigerator, no spin cycle on the washer, and no music playing on my computer.  Pure quiet.

• I had an impromptu visit with my friend as we chatted over freshly baked cookies and a glass of cool water.  (How does one heat water for coffee or tea without electricity?  Such a simple task on a normal day?)  The hour was a delight.

• And what's a boy to do after school without computers, video games, and cable tv?  Talk to his mother of course.  We laughed over cookies, gold fish crackers, and a glass of milk.  He's a growing boy.

A friend said it well, in response to my facebook status, sharing about my day, "Your time was more than redeemed!"

Yes, I'm thinking so. 

Thank you, dear Jesus, for redeeming my time today.  You make everything happen at the right time.  I just need to remember that sometimes.  Though my plans were different for this day, you used my time for your good and I was blessed.  Help me to be an example to Alyssa and Kyle of how to use time well, to be flexible when your plan takes them down different paths, and to rejoice in the outcomes of "bump in the road".  Lord, you are in control of my days, and I trust you.  Order my steps and plans, and I pray that you will be glorified in my response.

 

Keepin' Them on Track

Two things that will keep them on the right track!

Lord, you are so worthy of our trust.  You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and are our firm foundation.  I pray that Alyssa and Kyle trust You from the bottom of their hearts and not try to figure out everything on their own.  Teach them to listen for your voice in everything they do and everywhere they go. You, Father, are the one who will keep Alyssa and Kyle on track as they trust and listen.  What a glorious and beautiful life they will have as they walk with you!

Trusting God

"I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.”  Psalm 31:14

I pray, with my whole heart, that our kids trust God.

To trust: 

1. to have trust or confidence in; rely or depend on.

2. to believe.

3. to expect confidently; hope

We often put our trust in people or things that ultimately fail us.   But to know and trust in God, who proves Himself worthy of our trust, is the best thing we can do with our lives.  The more we practice trusting, and stepping out on faith, the easier it becomes.  The more we see God as good, loving and just, the more we see trust as the only way to go.  Trusting God truly is the best thing we can do. 

When my kids were little and frightened, they trusted me, and grabbed my hand and received this sense of refuge and security.

When my kids were little and hurt, they trusted me, as they shared their sorrows or lifted their boo-boos for a kiss, and they found comfort and encouragement.

When my kids were little and lost, they trusted me, and with a word of guidance or some direction they were confident to be on their way.

Trusting God offers all these things to Alyssa and Kyle in even greater supply. I pray that trust comes easily.  Oh, He is so worthy of our trust.

Lord, may my children say,  "I trust in you, O Lord; You are my God."  I pray that Alyssa and Kyle learn to trust you with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding, but in all their ways acknowledge you, for you will make their paths straight.  May trust come easily, stay forever, be found often, and change their lives from this day forward.  You, Lord, are worthy of our trust, and I cry out with praise and thanksgiving.  Amen.

 

Not the Bat

"In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him."  1 Samuel 18:14

Today and tomorrow Kyle has his first high school baseball tryouts.  I always pray for Kyle's success in everything he does, but today I'm just praying for this great opportunity he has. I think I'm more nervous that he is.  Ha!

But this I know...I know that it is God who will give him success today.

And I think Kyle knows that too!

Trust God, my dear son!

It's all Him...

and not that new bat you're going to swing!

Oh Lord, our God, I know and believe that in everything our children do, they will have great success, because you are with them.  Today, help Kyle to be confident that you are his strength.  May he trust in you with all of his heart, and that whatever the outcome, it is part of your ultimate plan.  In the moments that fear becomes overwhelming, I pray that he prays to you and finds your peace that passes all understanding.  We love you, dear Jesus, and trust you with all that this day holds.

I realized the other day that I haven't written a blog and prayer about trust.  Considering I've almost written 600 blogs, and think trust is such an important thing in our walk with the Lord, it's amazes me that I haven't even broached the subject.  How can that be?  We'll here I am to change things.

I pray, with my whole heart, that our kids trust God.

To trust: 

1. to have trust or confidence in; rely or depend on.

2. to believe.

3. to expect confidently; hope
