Thankful Thursday
"I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in the truth." 3 John 1:4 HCSB
I have to admit I struggled with doubts and fears this week about my kid's faith. Both Alyssa and Kyle have been raised in the church. and have probably had more church related experiences than most kids, but they are coming to the age where they are beginning to make their own choices about their church commitments. And sometimes, leaving it up to them, makes me a nervous mom. I know it's the way it should be, but darn it, can't I just tell them what to do?!
Even though, neither child did what I hoped they would in regard to Sunday opportunities, I saw other signs that they are choosing to make their faith their own. For that, I am thankful and I will hold on to the hope I have that God is working on them! I'm thankful for His promises!
"Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:8, 9 HCSB
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23 NIV
A different kind of "Thankful Thursday", but there you have it. (Sickness has been running rampant in our house, and laying around and doing nothing for a week doesn't give way to huge list of things to be thankful for...for now, I'll be thankful that we are finally on the mend!)
Lord, thank you for the ways I see you working in Alyssa and Kyle's lives. Thank you for the ways you're calling their names and drawing them to yourself. I can trust you with my hopes and fears, and with my children's hearts and souls. You are my anchor and I pray that Alyssa and Kyle know that truth as well!

Rooted in Him
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live
your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith
as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7
My precious babies, receive Christ Jesus as Lord.
Lord, I pray that you are Savior and Lord of Alyssa and Kyle's lives. Today may they choose to serve you and live totally devoted to you. Be Lord of their hearts!
Continue to live lives in Him.
Living in you takes choice and obedience, daily deciding to follow you. I pray that every step Alyssa and Kyle take is deeply bathed in prayer and seeking. Lord, fill them with your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Be their strength and hope each day.
Develop roots deep in Christ and a foundation that is strong.
Your Word promises that you are always with us, but I pray that Alyssa and Kyle always choose to be WITH you, and come to know you deeply and intimately. May they come to you daily and spend time getting to know you. I pray that they things that they've been taught will be an important foundation to their faith. Roots that are grown deep in you will help Alyssa and Kyle withstand the storms of life and help them to stand strong. Lord, be their One true foundation.
Overflowing with thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is an outpouring of a life lived in you. I pray that praise and thankfulness are true characteristics of Alyssa and Kyle's hearts and that the overflow will be evident in their words and actions all the time. Oh how truly blessed they are! Even if they haven't always been given what they want, or I didn't parent the way I should, they are still rich with love, family, and faith. I pray that they know that deep down in their hearts. Today, Jesus, remind Alyssa and Kyle that you lavishly love them and there's no better gift in this life!

Lord, be with Alyssa and Kyle today as they begin a new school week. Be close to them at school as they struggle through hard lessons and are slow to understand. Help them to ask questions, work through questions, and work hard in doing their work. Be present with Alyssa and Kyle, Lord, as they face interactions of all kinds. Be in their words, thoughts, and actions. Bring people into their worlds who give encouragement, hope, and wisdom. Whatever your plan is for Alyssa and Kyle this week, we trust you and look for your abiding presence.

Praying Scripture
Lord, I pray your Word today for Alyssa and Kyle knowing that its your heart for them as well!
Oh how I want Alyssa and Kyle woven into a tapestry of love,
and in touch with everything there is to know of God.
Then Alyssa and Kyle will have minds confident and at rest,
focused on you Christ, God’s great mystery.
All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge
are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else.
And I pray that Alyssa and Kyle will be shown the mystery!
I’m praying for this because I don’t want anyone
leading Alyssa and Kyle off on some wild-goose chase,
after other so-called mysteries, or “the Secret.”
Alyssa and Kyle have received Christ Jesus, the Master;
so now I pray that they live you ,
becoming deeply rooted in you
and well constructed upon your truth.
Teach Alyssa and Kyle around the faith.
so that they can do what they’ve been taught.

Flourishing Faith
"Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing." 2 Thessalonians 1:3

Lord, I pray that Alyssa and Kyle's faith in you grows and flourishes by leaps and bounds. Without faith it is impossible to please you, and whoever chooses to draw
near to you must believe that you exist and you will reward those who seek you. May Alyssa and Kyle have assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. Faith comes from hearing the word of Christ. Lord, you are as vast as the sands of the sea, and as powerful as the waves of the ocean, and I pray Alyssa and Kyle know that power and live in a deep, abiding, and growing faith.

Salvation Saturday
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out,
“Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them,
“Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.
Then he touched their eyes and said,
“According to your faith will it be done to you” Mark 9:27-29
From an early age Alyssa and Kyle have heard about Jesus. They've been a part of Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, church camp, and of course always a weekly dose of Sunday morning worship. They've heard the stories. They've witnessed lives being changed. They have been told of the ways God answers prayer.
They've heard, but do they really see?
I pray that their eyes are opened, and that they believe with their heart that God is who He says, and is able to do more than they can imagine.
May their faith grow deep, high and wide!
Lord, I pray that Alyssa and Kyle believe in you with all their heart, mind, and soul! I pray that they know and trust that you are able. Deepen their faith, stretch their trust, and open their eyes that they may see and know you for themselves. You are King of Kings and Lord of Lord, and I trust you with Alyssa and Kyle's lives.

I See A Generation
"Don't let anyone look down on you
because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech,
in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12
Part of our family is attending the annual
conference of our church denomination. There's a few things I love about this
gathering, but I'll just share two. It feels like a wonderful reunion
of family and friends, and I love the worship times together. I love seeing young and old alike standing and singing together in worship. I love watching the generation of the future "rise up" and become leaders who will serve Him. I pray that our kids are a part of those who will begin a revival, change lives, and follow God wherever He leads!

Increased Faith

mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you." Luke 17:5-6

whose ways you may not understand at the time."

Oh, how I pray Lord, that our children have a "deliberate confidence" in you! Increase Alyssa and Kyle's faith, dear Jesus. I
pray that faith will find root and grow in their hearts, that by faith
they may gain what has been promised to them. With faith in you, all
things are possible. May they not struggle to believe, hope, and act
on your calling because fear has overtaken them, but make their faith
the stronger contender. Lord, thank you for the wonderful ways you'll
increase their faith!

The Ultimate Graduation
"Don't let this throw you. You trust God, don't you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father's home. If that weren't so, would I have told you that I'm on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I'm on my way to get your room ready, I'll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I'm taking."
Thomas said, "Master, we have no idea where you're going. How do you expect us to know the road?"
Jesus said, "I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me." John 14:1-6
We've had a lot of graduations this last week! In fact, we attended four high school graduations. In the midst of the celebrations of new beginnings, we had the loss of a dear friend. He, too, had a graduation of his own, so to speak. He crossed the threshold into God's presence and received his eternal diploma for a life with Him! Oh the ultimate graduation of all!
What I loved about Rod was that he loved the Lord with all of his heart, mind, and soul. He lived out his faith in all that he said and did. Everyone who knew Rod, knew the One whom Rod loved.
Rod knew that Jesus was the only way, the truth and the life. He believed that with all that he was and was on a continual journey to get to know Him better. In the school of faith, Rod was a perpetual student. I'm sure that when he finally met Jesus face to face he heard "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
Graduations are an important time to celebrate the work accomplished, the knowledge we've attained, and the future ahead. Though Rod is already greatly missed, we celebrate his commencement heavenward!
So, as I pray for my babies today, I pray that they have a faith like Rod's, and know that their ultimate graduation is secure by just knowing and believing the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Congratulations, Rod! Enjoy Jesus!
Lord, my heart rejoices in the fact that you are the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one can come to You without faith and belief in Jesus Christ. I pray that Alyssa and Kyle come to have a relationship with you, much like the one Rod had with you. You shined in the things that Rod would say and do, and you transformed his life so that it reflected your presence in all his coming and goings. Lord, I pray that Alyssa and Kyle have that kind of relationship with you. As they grow may they continue to learn about you, live for you, and worship you as their God and Savior! Thank you for the opportunity we have to be your child, forever and always!

Be Faithful
"Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Revelation 2:10
Lord, thank you for the beginning of a new day. Thank you for the sunshine, for precious times with family, and for another day of life. For each breath we take, good health, freedom, and warm homes. A life so rich! I pray that our children will always live easy, conflict free, challenge-less lives...though I know that is completely unrealistic. But you know, a mom can ask. Lord, in the complicated moments of their life, I pray that our children will always remain faithful to you. I pray that they will always call on your name, seek you for wisdom and help, and represent you in a beautiful fashion. May they always call on your name, and stand for you when they face persecution of any kind. Lord, may our children always live true to their calling as your daughter and son. Every day, be close beside them, cheering them on in their faith and encouraging them to run their race strong and with great purpose. Dear Jesus, thank you for hearing this mother's prayer.

"Tebowing"
My two boys are faithful, long-time Denver Bronco fans. Recently, their love for their team has grown to include a deep admiration for their quarterback, Tim Tebow.
If you are anywhere near a television these days, you can hear commentary, discussions and debates about the outspoken, and strongly demonstrative believer on the Broncos. This man is a wonderful example, in my mind, of how someone can be in the public eye, play sports, make lots of money, and still give a loud testimony of loving and living for Jesus Christ.
There has even been a new word added to the "Urban Dictionary" and an entire website to "Tebowing". It's a phenomenon that is catching, and being copied by many.
"Tebowing"= (verb) to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.
Now that is an athlete that I don't my kids following.
I am praying that Alyssa and Kyle have a faith so deep, wide, and strong, that they will never fear giving God all the glory for their accomplishments and blessings. Maybe it will look like "tebowing", and maybe not. Either way, may they always give God all the praise, honor and glory with their lives!
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Timothy 1:17
Lord you are our strength and song; you are my salvation. Please become Alyssa and Kyle's God, and may they praise you exalt your name forever. You alone are their rock and their salvation; you, Father are their fortress, they will never be shaken. Alyssa and Kyle's salvation comes from you alone. With every breath, I pray that they give you all the praise, honor and glory. May their actions and their words always be a reflection and representation of you living in their hearts. Lord, be their firm foundation. God, your solid foundation stands firm, and is sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his." I pray that Alyssa and Kyle's lives are always marked by you, dear Jesus, and that they shout it from the mountaintop so that the whole world around them knows whom they believe in. Lord, you are so good, so faithful, and so true. May we abide with you forever!

Family of Faith
"These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city." Esther 9:28
This Thanksgiving our home is a buzz with activity. Cousins, Grammy and Papa, and Aunts and Uncles are here, there and everywhere. I love it when we are all together!
After the turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy, and all the trimmings had been eaten, we did the traditional share-time of what we were thankful for. Each family member racked their brain to figure out how to really express all that God had blessed them with this year. Life, air, and cheeseburgers were a few of the answers. But covering over everything, from one generation to another, was a thankfulness for God's presence in our lives. God is good.
I love that our kids can see and hear that truth from "every generation by every family". They are learning important truths, precious promises, and seeing God's faithful work in the lives of others, and they take those things and build and growth their own faith in our Lord. I'm thankful for those little moments where faith is being passed from one generation to another.
Reflecting on God's activity in our lives, celebrating our togetherness, and laughing at stories remembered makes for one wonderful day!
Thank you, dear Jesus for generations past that loved you and served you with their lives, and laid a foundation of faith in my life. And thank you, for the grandparents, and aunts and uncles, of today that speak faith and truth into Alyssa and Kyle's life. I pray, looking forward, that Alyssa and Kyle will in turn make the most of every opportunity to pass on their faith to future generations. You are good to us, Father, and we stand in huge thankfulness for a family who loves you! May future generations find us faithful.

But covering over everything, from one generation to another, was a thankfulness for God's presence in our lives. God is good.
I love that our kids can see and hear that truth from "every generation by every family". They are learning important truths, precious promises, and seeing God's faithful work in the lives of others, and they take those things and build and growth their own faith in our Lord. I'm thankful for those little moments where faith is being passed from one generation to another.
Reflecting on God's activity in our lives, celebrating our togetherness, and laughing at stories remembered makes for one wonderful day!
Thank you, dear Jesus for generations past that loved you and served you with their lives, and laid a foundation of faith in my life. And thank you, for the grandparents, and aunts and uncles, of today that speak faith and truth into Alyssa and Kyle's life. I pray, looking forward, that Alyssa and Kyle will in turn make the most of every opportunity to pass on their faith to future generations. You are good to us, Father, and we stand in huge thankfulness for a family who loves you! May future generations find us faithful.
